Thanks to everyone who has come along to our shows recently. You will have noticed a significant change in the form of our new drummer, Tom. You might have seen him behind the kit of other Adelaide bands like Horse & Cart and Zeta League. We are all really happy with the new format and we've been able to bring in a few new songs to our sets. So whilst the electro beats are gone from the live shows, they will still be present (as will Tom's drums) on the album that we are currently recording.
Much of the album has been recorded at Broadcast Studios in Adelaide, with Mike recording other bits at home. There's just a few overdubs and vocals remaining now and then it will be mixed by Tim Whitten in Sydney. We are all really happy with how it has been going and hope that you will be able to hear it in the next few months. We have added a few photos from the Broadcast sessions to the downloads page of this website.
In the meantime, we have a few shows coming up including a support slot with Sydney's 78 Saab and Richard In Your Mind. All the details are on the gigs page. Hope to see you soon!

Hello! We are home from our European tour. Our sincere thanks to
everyone who helped make it possible and those of you who came along
to the shows. We hope to see you again in the near future!
Recording of our debut
full length album has commenced at Broadcast Studios in Adelaide.
The timeline for release is uncertain at this stage, but this will
no doubt occur sometime in the second half of 2008.
In the mean time, we are extremely excited to announce that we will
be playing at the St Jerome's Laneway Festival,
which is coming to Adelaide for the first time on Saturday February
23rd in the Fowler's Live Courtyard. We will be playing alongside
one of our current favourites, Feist, as well as
a bunch of other great international and Australian bands such as
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Broke Social
Scene, Okkervil
River, Stars, Devastations,
Gotye, Darren Hanlon and many more. Check
out the gigs page for more details and we hope to see you there!

We have several gigs coming up in Adelaide over the next couple
of months with some great bands like Batrider, Ned Collette, Little
Ice Age and Horse & Cart. Check the gigs
page for all the details and we hope to see you there!

Aviator Lane now have our own tshirts! You can purchase them via
the merch page or at
shows (save on postage costs). Thanks to Sarah for letting us steal
the design from part of a poster she did for us last year.
Things are coming along quite nicely in Europe with the Aviator
Lane EP receiving several reviews and even some airplay. We've added
the reviews (that we know of) to the media
page. We've also added a few photos from Mike's solo set at the
Good Friday party at Urtext on the downloads
page.
Finally, our sincere thanks to Karl, Sandy, Jarren and everyone
involved in making Really Good In Theory happen. We look forward
to the next one!
Our next show is on Friday May 11 at the Prince
Albert Hotel (Wright St, Adelaide) with Little Ice Age. It's free
entry and starts around 9pm, so we hope to see you there!

The next show (after supporting
Holly Throsby and Dan Kelly tomorrow) will be next Friday (March
2) at The Wheatsheaf Hotel in Thebarton, just out of the Adelaide
CBD. Little
Ice Age have kindly asked us to join them for the night, which
is free and starts around 9pm.
We are currently very excited
to be working on a European tour, which will take
place in November and December of this year. Anyone residing in
the area (including the UK) who would like to hear more as these
plans develop, please join our mailing list. Just send us an email
and tell us that you'd like to be added and where you are located.
We hope to be able to see you over there!

The first Aviator Lane show for 2007 will be on Friday February
23 at Jive (Adelaide) supporting Holly
Throsby and Dan
Kelly. Hope to see you there!

We are excited to announce that Aviator Lane will
be supporting Jason Molina (he of Magnolia
Electric Co. & Songs: Ohia fame) at the Adelaide show of
his Australian tour. He was out here a few years ago supporting
Art
of Fighting and is well worth coming out on a school night for
- Tuesday November 21 at The Grace Emily.
Tickets are available from The Grace Emily or Venuetix.

These news bits always start with thanking people
for coming to the shows, and this one is no different. If you came
along to the show with Deloris and Pitching Woo at the Jade Monkey
on Friday, then thanks!
Our next show will be one of our biggest yet, supporting the wonderful
Sodastream at their last Melbourne show for the year, which will
be held at The Corner Hotel on Saturday September 16. We will have
some guests joining us for our set, with Art of Fighting's Marty
Brown on drums and Jon from Brer Mouse on guitar. We can't wait
to play with those guys again!
The following Saturday, September 23, Sodastream follow us back
to Adelaide where we will support them at The Jade Monkey. They're
also bringing Oliver Mann with them - brother of Paddy Mann aka
Grand Salvo, but a great musician in his own right.
We've recently added a whole stack of media bits and
pieces to said page - interviews and reviews of cds and live shows.
This includes a couple we've received from a Belgian ezine - you
can test out your French in one of them!

Firstly a big thank you to everyone who came along to our Sydney launch,
to Dave, Heligoland and Sounds Like Sunset for playing with us and
especially to Sam Shinazzi for organising it.
The next Aviator Lane show is in Adelaide on Friday August 4 with
Melbourne bands Deloris and Pitching Woo. Mike will most likely be
playing solo, but there will be free badges and stickers!
Very exciting news just at hand is that we'll be playing in Melbourne
on Saturday September 16 with the lovely lads from Sodastream. This
will be at The Corner Hotel in Richmond. Never thought we'd play there!
This will also act as the Melbourne launch for our self-titled EP.
Thanks to everyone who came along early to the Low show last Tuesday.
The band will be taking a short break from shows in Adelaide, but
Mike will be playing solo at The Grace Emily on Thursday June 22 with
two Melbourne acts, Dane Tucquet and Lindsay Phillips.
The band will however be playing in Sydney next month. So far there
is only one show at the Sandringham Hotel on Friday July 14 with Sounds
Like Sunset, Heligoland and Dave from Tides. There is talk of a possible
backyard show, but no details to report yet.

We are extremely excited to announce that we
will be supporting Low
at the only Adelaide show of their Australian tour. Further details
can be found to the right of screen. It's sure to be a fantastic
night, so we hope to see you there nice and early.
The new self-titled Aviator Lane EP has been released
through Patterns in Static and is currently available at Big Star
Records in Adelaide. It's making its way into independent record
stores around Australia. If you'd rather not leave your house and
want the CD to come to you, that can be arranged by visiting the
online shop on the Patterns
in Static website.
Thank you to everyone who came along to the Adelaide launch of the
EP in May. Thanks also to the bands - Little Ice Age, Antony of
the Future and Ianto Ware - and of course to the Jade Monkey for
helping us to launch it.
Our Sydney launch has just been finalised and will be taking place
on Friday July 14. It will be a combined launch with our friends
from Melbourne band Heligoland, who will be launching their second
album, A Street Between Us. |
